Caleidoscopio
Caleidoscopio is both a wall lamp and an interactive light installation, bringing the aesthetics of light art into everyday interiors. Inspired by optical experiments and artistic explorations of light, it combines a glass prism with dichroic elements to create coloured beams, reflections and luminous effects.
The main idea behind Caleidoscopio is to give people the opportunity not simply to use light, but to create with it. The user becomes a co-author of the object, shaping the composition, direction and character of the coloured light beams.
The light source is directed towards a central triangular glass prism, which refracts and distributes the light in different directions. The beams interact with semicircular acrylic elements featuring a dichroic coating, creating coloured reflections, gradients and spectral effects.
The semicircular optical elements are attached magnetically and can be freely repositioned across the surface of the lamp. By changing their position, the user can alter the direction and character of the light effects, creating an individual composition.
The central prism is mounted on a rotating mechanism with an integrated motor. As it turns, the angles of refraction and reflection continuously change, causing coloured beams and reflections to move across the surface of the lamp and the surrounding space. The motor can be switched on and off directly on the body of the lamp, allowing the user to choose between a static composition and a dynamic lighting scenario.
The minimal circular form provides a neutral background for the complex play of light, while the semicircular optical elements continue the geometry of the main body, creating a coherent and contemporary visual language. The simplicity of the form intentionally contrasts with the emotional and constantly changing light effects.
Caleidoscopio brings the principles of artistic light installations from galleries into residential interiors, combining industrial design, optics and art and transforming everyday interaction with light into a creative experience. Here, light becomes not only a function, but also a material for creating a personal work of art.
