The Artefact table lamp is inspired by the art of the ancient world and archaeological discoveries that reveal the cultures of the past. Alabaster became the central material of the design — a natural stone that appears to glow from within when illuminated. Enclosed behind tinted glass, it evokes a museum display in which an ancient artefact becomes the main object of attention.
The lamp incorporates two light sources. One reveals the natural texture of the alabaster and creates a soft, almost magical glow, while the other provides functional illumination and enhances the lighting effects around the object.
The tinted glass changes its character depending on the light. When switched off, it appears almost mirrored; once illuminated, it becomes significantly more transparent, gradually revealing the stone element inside. This creates a striking visual transformation.
When Artefact is positioned close to a wall, the light produces expressive caustic patterns and reflections on the surrounding surfaces, extending the decorative effect beyond the lamp itself.
The construction follows a nesting principle similar to a matryoshka: individual components fit sequentially into one another. This solution eliminates bulky visible fasteners and preserves a clean, contemporary silhouette.
Artefact combines an ancient material, the image of a museum exhibit, and contemporary lighting technology. The result is not simply a table lamp, but a small art object that creates a connection between contemporary interiors and the cultural heritage of the past.
