Empathy
The Empathy floor lamp was created according to the principles of empathy and human-centered design. The idea was to develop a luminaire capable of adapting not only to practical needs but also to human habits and emotional states. Its key features are touchless motion control, adjustable brightness, and a rotating structure that allows the light to be directed exactly where it is needed.
The position of the motion sensor was determined through observations of how people behave at home, in offices, cafés, and other environments. It is placed at a convenient level so that the light can be controlled both while sitting at a desk and while simply walking past the lamp.
Touchless control makes it possible to switch the light on and adjust its intensity with a simple hand movement. This is particularly convenient while working, eating, or doing creative activities when touching the luminaire may be undesirable.
The rotating system allows the light to be directed vertically and around the lamp’s axis. Empathy can therefore adapt to different scenarios, including working, reading, relaxing, or creating soft ambient illumination.
The concise angular form of the metal structure was largely defined by functionality: it made it possible to integrate the motion sensor and rotation mechanism while preserving a clean contemporary silhouette.
Empathy demonstrates how observing human behavior can become the starting point for product design. Form, control, and light are all focused on one purpose — making everyday interaction with the object more natural and comfortable.
